Why SageMuscle Isn’t a Compromise, It’s a Calling

By Verna Haywood | Resilience & Transformational Coach

A quiet thought met me as I stood in my kitchen preparing a nourishing yet straightforward breakfast—fried plantain, eggs, cherry tomatoes, and a cup of green tea—this morning.

A few days ago, I posted something heartfelt on Facebook using the hashtag #SageMuscle. Many responded positively, but one message gave me pause. A well-meaning friend reached out, concerned that I might compromise my faith. She had looked up the word Sage and found connections to yogis and chakras, suggesting I should be careful what I say and not “try to fit in.”

Her message reminded me why I do what I do—not just as a coach but as a woman called to walk in truth, purpose, and healing power.

Let me explain.

What Is Sage Muscle?

What Is Sage Muscle?

As a Resilience and Transformational Coach, I use a framework called Positive Intelligence (PQ). One of the key concepts is the Sage Muscle—the mental and emotional part of our brain responsible for love, empathy, curiosity, creativity, and wise discernment. It is the space from which we respond with clarity rather than react in fear, judgment, or shame.

When I speak of Sage Muscle, I speak of spiritual maturity, emotional healing, and mental fitness. It is deeply aligned with the mind of Christ—that higher consciousness that leads with truth, grace, and compassion.

A Mindset Rooted in Faith, Not Fear

The language of wellness does not threaten my faith. It is strengthened by bringing God’s light into every room, regardless of who’s in it or their beliefs.

When I use the language of resilience, wholeness, or mental fitness, I’m not compromising—I’m building bridges. I’m inviting women who feel overwhelmed, silenced, or stuck to rise and remember:
You are not broken. You are becoming.

Who I Am and Why I Serve

Let me be clear:

I am a vessel of healing and hope. I do not compete—I create.
I am led by grace rooted in purpose. Called to awaken wholeness in others.
My voice carries light, and my presence fosters transformation.

This is the foundation of my coaching work. I help women rebuild after trauma, stand again after grief, and reclaim their voices after years of silence. Whether through one-on-one coaching, workshops, or spiritual guidance, I walk with them through the valley so they can rise again with strength.

Why This Matters

We live in a world that is quick to judge and slow to understand. But healing doesn’t happen in division. It happens when we choose curiosity over criticism, light over assumption, and wholeness over fear.

My mission is to create safe spaces for women to grow confidence, reclaim their purpose, and rise in power. I will continue to use every tool—including Sage Muscle—to make that happen.

If this speaks to your heart, I invite you to journey with me.

With resilience and love,
